Sport is for Every Body Podcast Ep03 - Lauren Schwaar
Michael Woods

Hey, what's up everybody? I am Michael Woods, founder of Inclusive Sport Design, and welcome to the ISD Podcast where we talk all things inclusion in sport with amazing guests who are out there making inclusion happen. So you can be inspired to make inclusion happen in your club or sport organization too.

We are as usual recording on beautiful Gundungurra country and I'd like to acknowledge and thank the Gundungurra people and pay my respects to their elders past and present. I also pay my respects and welcome all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all other Indigenous and First Nations peoples who are watching or listening in today.

Now, for those of you who are here for the first time, maybe this is the first episode you're listening to, or you are new to Inclusive Sport Design, you've never seen us before. I highly recommend you listen to our episode Zero, which is our introduction episode, where you can find out more about who I am what Inclusive Sport Design is all about, and what we hope to achieve with the ISD Podcast. So I'll pop a link in the show notes so you can check that out.

Today is episode number three. And today I'm with Lauren Schwaar to explore how she's shaping the future of sport by measuring the impacts of what we do. Now, Lauren is a basketball coach, turned tech entrepreneur that was inspired to solve the pain and measurement of evaluation after completing a master's degree in sport policy.

Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Lauren has lived in multiple countries, coached basketball around the world, and is building her tech startup Fathom Performance. Now, Fathom Performance is an app that aims to change the way we demonstrate impact both in the sporting industry and for our inclusion efforts everywhere.

Lauren is working to make it possible to evaluate inclusion initiatives more effectively and accurately so they can be improved, scaled and reproduced. Lauren also likes good stories, good Nike commercials, and a good workout challenge as well. So let's get into it.

ā€‹ Lauren Schwaar, welcome to the Inclusive Sport Design Podcast.

I don't wanna waste any more time in the intro, because we've got so much to cover today. I wanna make sure we get, we get deep into the conversations that, that I know we're gonna have. So I, I'm keen, can you tell us, like you, you're a basketball player.
