Hello Renovo friends. This is Kelly Calabrese, and today I have the great pleasure of announcing our newest renovo sponsored athlete, Bruce Goodin. Bruce, thank you so much for being here.
It's great to join you on this zoom.
It is an honor. You are just such a revered, successful sportsman and you still are continuing to train and we're so excited to work with you.
Can you tell us a little bit about how you got started in your sport?
Yeah, so basically I've been involved with horses pretty much all my life. My, my father was also a rider and competed for New Zealand, and, so I was probably first put on a horse when I was a baby. And grew up, grew on a farm in New Zealand and show jumping became my passion quite early on.
and from a young age, I decided that I wanted to do it or try to do it at a high level. I had some success in New Zealand, and then when I was about 21, I decided that I would move to Europe because New Zealand was, yeah, I guess I, I had won everything there was to win in New Zealand at that stage and needed to, try and better myself and challenge myself.
So I, I went to Europe and yeah, I've been living in Europe for the last 30 years.
Wow. That is a great strategy, and that is what winners do. They want to play at the highest levels possible, so we love that. Bruce, there are so many highlights to your career, my goodness. You have so many things that you've earned in so many awards.
Can you share maybe some of the most special highlights that you've had?
Yeah, sure. So yeah right from the beginning. What was really special was when I was 21 I managed to go to Spruce Meadows, the Spruce Meadows master in Calgary, Canada. And I was second in the Grand Prix there my first time there.
