Welcome to the Online Creator Podcast. I'm your host, Kim Tradewell, founder and CEO of May and James co, a creative digital company specializing in podcasting and audio marketing. In this first episode of the show, I really just wanted to give you a little background of who I am and what to expect in future episodes.

But before we get started, I really would love if you would be able to go to Apple and hit the five stars and give me a review because at the beginning of the journey of this journey of developing a podcast. Apple really highlights and showcases, uh, the new and upcoming podcast through leaving reviews.

The other thing about leaving a review is that I'm really hoping to start, to incorporate your reviews. Uh, at the beginning of the episode. So if you would like an opportunity to be seen or heard or questions answered, throw 'em up on the review. I would love to hear from you or check me out on my Instagram page at me and James co with any questions or upcoming guests that you would really like to hear from on topics that will help build and scale your business, because that is why I'm here and that is why I'm doing this show.

So let's get back to the purpose of this podcast, and I just wanted to let you know that this podcast is really about my journey through, my traditional career in health. So I was in a position of health education for, better part of my adult career. And, uh, we started to, well, really. My, my position was to help identify big picture projects in the community that I'm living in, and to find funding and create messaging for target populations from kind of concept implement implementation and to really kind of evaluate what worked and what didn't.

And we started to play with audio in that space because what we were noticing was that we were getting presenters that were so knowledgeable on topics that we were bringing in, um, but we weren't getting the audience out or as many people as we had hoped to, but the value was still there. So we started playing with audio and the whole storytelling aspect of audio, um, just kind of really lit a fire under me cuz I saw the potential with it there.

So, uh, when I realized this, I, I knew there was only so much I could do and change in the four walls of my cubicle. So I started kind of looking at what is the potential of bringing audio and working in this online space. In 2020 I launched May and James Co. As a way to explore this online business world.

And I started with kind of like, you know, a lot of people started with general VA work. I started helping, and doing social media management. I was just kind of trying to find my footing and trying to figure out like, what really lit me up. And I also spent a year actually diving in and learning about website development, which was crazy because I didn't even think that I had the ability to do that.

But I, I built websites for a year. I started in WordPress and um, then found, Showit and went, Oh my gosh, like Showit was so fun because I could really be creative, at drag and drop style. Build out pages and, um, you know, make changes to my own personal website really, really quickly. So I did that for just over a year, dabbled in that area.
